FIVE YR. OLD BOY DIES SUDDENLY

Little Son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, Northwest of Jewell, Sick Only Three Hours.

After a sickness of only three hours Fred Bernard [sic], the five year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Johnson, living on a farm near the St. Paul Lutheran church northwest of Jewell, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon of last week. The death coming almost without warning, was a cruel blow to the bereaved parents, who have the sincere sympathy of their friends in their loss.

The boy had for a week or so been complaining of feeling unwell, but was up and around all the time. A physician was consulted, but could discover no apparent trouble. At about noon Wednesday the boy asked his mother to phone for his father to come home, saying he was not feeling well. At about three o'clock, while playing with his father, he suddenly became violently sick and almost immediately became unconscious. Two physicians were called, but at six o'clock the little fellow passed away. Death is said to have resulted from an abscess on the liver.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at one o'clock, conducted by Rev. Eastvold from the St. Paul church, and the body laid at rest in the cemetery there.

The mother is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Peterson, of Jewell, and her parents, and her brother, H. G. Peterson, and wife, were among those from Jewell attending the funeral services. Mrs. John Hall and Mrs. Bennie Hall, of near Williams, sisters of Mrs. Johnson, came down to attend the services.
