Death of Mrs. J. W. Black

Mrs. Jesse W. Black died July 20, 1899, at the family home, one and a half miles south east of Jewell. Mrs. Black's death was the result of a severe attack of gaip [sic] and nervous prostration.

The deceased was seventy-two years of age. She was united in marriage with the husband who survives her forty-one years ago. Nine children were born to her, six of whom are still living. Mr. and Mrs. Black were among the earliest settlers of Hamilton county, having resided here during the past thirty-three years. Most of that time has been spent in Cass township. The deceased was a loving and indulgent mother. The death of this good woman will be mourned by a large circle of friends. The funeral service was held this morning at the family home, and the remains were taken to Cass Center for interment.--Freeman
