Accidentally Killed

A frightful accident occurred Wednesday which resulted in the death of Lewis Rytter, a boy about sixteen years old, who lives with his parents three miles east and three fourths miles south of Jewell. The boy had been away on a hunt, and when about ready to return home, let the gun slip and the trigger struck the tongue of the wagon and completely shot away half of the boys head. Death was instantaneous. The young man will be remembered by many Jewell people, as he was a student for some time in the Jewell Lutheran College. We understand the funeral will be held today from the Lutheran church in Ellsworth at two o'clock. It is indeed a very sad affair and the Record, with many friends of the family hastens to extend sympathy to the bereaved. It seems doubly sad from the fact that the boy was taken so suddenly from a happy, useful life. He was a bright promising young man and will be missed continually, as the years go by, from the circles of friendship he has been taken from. He will be missed, but his memory will be cherished through the countless years to come, by those to whom he was made precious by a daily companionship.
