From Jewell Record July 1, 1897 (page 5)

Mrs. James Pearson, nee Miss Delphia Buckles [sic[, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Buckles [sic], of Lincoln township, died at her home in Des Moines last Monday, after a lingering illness of nearly two months standing. The deceased was well and favorably known in this vicinity having lived in Lincoln township nearly all her life. Mr. and Mrs. Pearson had been married about 18 months and moved to Des Moines about 8 months ago. The deceased health had been very good up to the time of her last illness, and her life was not despaired of until about a week previous to her death. At the death-bed was the husband, father and mother and many other relatives and friends. The remains arrived in Jewell Wednesday noon and were taken overland to Ellsworth, where the services were held in the M. E. church, after which the body was placed in the cemetery 1 1/2 miles north of Ellsworth.
