Andrew Alfseike

Andrew Martin Alfseike, son of Berge and Ida (Anderson) Alfseike was born December 14, 1882 west of Randall, Iowa.

He was baptized by the Rev. N. G. Peterson and confirmed by the Rev. N. G. Peterson and confirmed by the Rev. C. J. Eastvold at the Clear Lake and Ellsworth Townships Lutheran Church, west of Randall, Iowa.

He was married to Eva Baldus on February 26, 1925, southwest of Story City. To this marriage were born four children, Evelyn, Anna Mae, Andrew G. and Esther.

He was a resident of Jewell and Randall communities throughout his life.

He passed away on Monday, May 16, 1977 at the North Grand Care Center in Ames, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva at Randall; three daughters, Evelyn (Mrs. Charles Eckroth), St. Joseph, Minn., Anna Mae (Mrs. Amos Oakland) of rural Radcliffe, Iowa, and Esther (Mrs. David Rasmussen) of Forest City, Iowa; one son, Andrew G. of rural Jewell, Iowa; nine grandchildren.

Funeral services in memory of Andrew Alfseike were held Thursday, May 19, 1977 at Elim Lutheran Church, Randall. The Rev. Donald L. Berg was in charge. Delbert Quam, soloist, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art," accompanied by Miss Cathy Stevenson at the church organ. The congregation also sang "Rock of Ages." A greeting also brought by Pastor T. J. Alvestad, who grew up with Andrew.

Committal was at Evergreen Cemetery, Jewell, at which the grandchildren brought and placed at the graveside various items related to Andrew's life of farming and other interests.
