The following are notes that I took on the Linehan family as I researched the O'Hern family:
Dub Daily Times March 17, 1888 - Bart E Linehan and Mrs Molo left for Marshalltown last evening to spend Sunday with their brother, Rev M C Linehan.
Dub Daily Times April 4, 1888 - Bartholemew Linehan, residing on East Rock Street, died age 78. Born County Cork, Ireland. Blind for the last 40 years. Came U.S. 50 years ago.
Dubuque Herald - June 7, 1874 - pall bearer for Mrs Irene McAffee was Dan Linehan.
Telegraph Herald Nov 4, 1917 - Daniel Linehan - Pioneer, resident of Praie Creek Township, 80 years old, died. Born in Cty Cork, Ireland and came U.S. 50 years ago, settling in NY. Later he removed to Galena and resided there until he purchased a farm in Praire Creek. His widow survives him and 3 sons and 3 daughters - Mary at home, Julia of Gedes SD, Mrs Fred Whitsock. Sons are Daniel of Johnsville CA, John of Montana and James at home. Services at Holy FAmily Church. Burial at Monastery.
Dubuque Herald July 10, 1878 - funeral of John Mulligan - Dennis Linehan was pallbearer.
Dubuque Herald April 6, 1880 - funeral of John McNamara - Dennis Linehan was pallbearer.
Daily Herald Aug 24, 1888 - funeral of Mrs Maurice Brown - D.W. Linehan was pallbearer
Telegraph Herald June 12, 1911 - Dennis Linehan, 1238 Main, passed away. Wife died 3 1/2 years ago. Born Nov. 5, 1840 in Cork Ireland. In 1849 he came to Dubuque with his parents, M/M Edmund Linehan. Dennis was a contractor. Survived by Madame Linehan of Sacred Heart Convent in Cinncinnati, Edmund, Dr. M.D., Bart, Louis and Elizabeth and Blanche, also by 1 brother - Bishop Matthias Linehan of Great Falls Montana and 1 sister - Mrs W S Molo of Dubuque.
T. H. Dec 3, 1907 - Mrs Dennis Linehan had stroke. Born Marion Ia in Feb 1845 and was married to D W Linehan in Garryowen 40 years ago last Wednesday. Had 10 children. Seven survive: Medame Lucy of Medames of Sacred Heart of Cinncinnati, Edmund, Elizabeth, Dr M.D., Blanche, Bart and Lewis. The three who died before her are: Miss KAtherine, Thomas and Dennis. (I have a note on this card that says she was the granddaughter of Michael and Mary Farrell, and according to Lewis' obit she was a Cox [Mary Cox].
Dubuque Herald May 22, 1860 - Edmund Linehan died at his residence near Lorimer Ave.
T.H. 7-26-1934 - Mrs Elizabeth Linehan died in Le Mars and her body arrived in Dub Wed afternoon and burial was in Mt Olivet Cemetery.
T.H. March 4, 1908 - Mrs Ellen Linehan - found dead in a humble abode on a little roadway leading from West Locust St. Found dead by an insurance salesman. Was married twice. First husband named Pendergraft. It was his sister that burned to death in a little hut on West Locust, the charred ashes of which could be seen alongside the thoroughfare until a few years ago. No relatives - funeral to St. Philomena's Cemetery.
Dubuque Herald April 25, 1876 - The daughter of F.M. Linehan, age 13 years died of scarlet fever. Article.
Dubuque Herald Sept 8, 1886 - Funeral of Mrs Bart Sheridan - pallbearer was JJ Linehan.
Daily American Tribune - 10-10-1925 - Davenport Ia - Mr James M Linehan age 60. Survived by his wife and 2 daughters and two grandsons. Services at St Paul the Apostle Church.
Dub Cty Death Registration #70 - Patrick Linehan, 60 years old. Born 1846 in Ireland. Married. Father was Dennis Linehan (born Ireland) mother unknown. Occupation - teaming. died Aug 12, 1906 from fracture of the spine. Informant was Dennis Linehan. Buried Mt Olivet on Aug. 13, 1906.
Dubuque Herald - Thomas Linehan, age 14 years. Son of James and Margaret Linehan. Remains to old Cathedral Cemetery. Playing on Kelly's Bluff when he fell in a shaft and split his head open on the rocks.
Dubuque Herald - Agnes Lenehan, youngest child of B.D. & Mary Lenahan, 2 years old.
Dubuque Herald Dec 17, 1876 - Mrs B D Lenehan, born in New York. Married at Brooklyn. Died at age 54. Buried in Key West. also Dec 19, 1876 (Mary A. Lenehan.
Dubuque Herald - Bartholomew Lenehan - at Praire Creek Township of asthma, age 71 years. Came U S in 1816 settled in New York. Stayed until 1850. Came Praire Creek. Had been Justice of the Peace, reelected 12 consecutive terms. Buried Monastery. Native of Parish Ballymmora, Cty Cork, Ireland.Dubuque Herald - James P. Lenehan youngest son of B D & M A Lenehan, age 2. Funeral from the residence corner of Bluff & 4th.
Dub Daily Times - 3/16/1887 - Michael Lenehan died last evening after a short illness. Raised in Dubuque and lived with his mother. About a year ago he went to Omaha to work at his trade, that of a carpenter and returned home last Christmas. He was 25 years old and the son of the late James Lenehan. Leaves his mother, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
