Hi, Mary and Sharyl: I think that sometimes unknown bodies that were found in the Mississippi River were buried in the cemetery of the closest town. I can't refer to a specific news item to confirm this point, but I'm pretty sure I've seen something like that in Clayton County newspapers. Just wanted to point out that an unidentified body might be buried in another cemetery besides the county cemetery, but depending on the cemetery records for the era, there may not be much (or any) information of use for this kind of burial.
