Fred Grapes, 71, former resident of Strawberry Point, died at St. Francis Hospital in Waterloo Feb. 04, following a brief illness.
He was born April 30, 1887, in Worthington, the son of George and Minnie (Curry) Grapes. On April 18, 1928, he was married to Lydia Fredrick at Lamont. They lived the greater part of their lives in or near Strawberry Point and moved to Waterloo several years ago.
Preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lydia Grapes, one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Knutsen, and one granddaughter, all of Waterloo, and three sisters, Mrs. Lloyd (Blanche) Carner, Mrs. Dorothy McBride and Mrs. Ted (Pearl) Davis, all of Lamont.
Burial was in the Strawberry cemetery following services in the Gill chapel in Strawberry Point, Saturday afternoon at 1:30, with the Rev. Robert Smith officiating.
