The death of Mrs. Thomas Bergan, 76, occurred Saturday Nov. 30, 1957, at the McGregor hospital, following a few weeks illness.
She was the former Julia Ann Shea and lived in the Volga community many years. Following the death of her husband in 1938, she resided with her sons and their families.
Mrs. Bergan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sons, John and Harold.
Surviving are a daughter, Mae, Elkader; two sons, Thomas, Elkader; Leo, Strawberry Point; seventeen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; one brother, John Shea, Volga; two sisters, Mrs. James Little, Volga, and Mrs. Catherine Crowley, Pittsville, Wis., and other relatives.
Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 03, 1957, from the McTaggart funeral home to St. Joseph's Catholic church, Elkader, at 9:30 a.m. The pastor, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Daniel A. Gorman officiated.
Burial in Sacred Heart cemetery, Volga.
Pallbearers were: Kenneth Bergan, Joe Bergan, William Bergan, Bill White, Ivan Whittle and Verdean Tschirgi.
