Saturday, July 28, Miss Dorothy Ellen Gill, daughter of Gorda J. Gill of Manchester, and Marshall Barnes, son of Mrs. May Barnes of Fairfield, were married in the Methodist church in Strawberry Point. The Rev. Wayne L. Carlson officiated. Miss Margaret Gill of Manchester served as her sister's only attendant. Glenn Peterson of Rock Tavern, New York, friend of the groom, was best man.
The bride is a graduate of Strawberry Point high school and attended Coe college in Cedar Rapids and the University of Iowa at Iowa City. She holds her B.A. and M.A. degrees in art appreciation. She was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. The groom is a graduate of Fairfield high school and received his Ph.D from the University of Iowa. He is now head of the music department of Parsons college at Fairfield.
Following an extended wedding trip the new couple will be at home after Sept. 01 at Fairfield.
