Ellen Elizabeth Ahrens became the bride of Thomas Johansen in the Evangelical and Reformed Church, Apr. 11, with the Rev. Robert Jacobs officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Ahrens of Elkader and the groom is the son of Mrs. Ellen Johansen of Lamont. Mrs. Lawrence Meyers, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid and Ruth Ann Doeppke, niece of the bride, and Becky Sue Johansen, niece of the groom, were flower girls. Gary Johansen of Des Moines served as best man for his brother, and Ralph Doeppke, brother-in-law of the bride, and Gary Duncan, brother-in-law of the groom, were ushers.

At the reception for 120 guests held in the church parlors, Mrs. Dewell Phillips of Evansdale and Mrs. Lorence Leonard of Elkader, both aunts of the groom, cut and served the cake. Mrs. Phil Davis, aunt of the groom, poured.

The new couple will reside in Chicago, where both are employed.
