Funeral services for Lois Wolcott, 85, of Aurelia was held Monday, May 4, 1998 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Aurelia. Burial was at the Kingsley Cemetery.
Lois died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at the Sunset Knoll Retirement home in Aurelia.
Lois Margaret Sampson was born June 10, 1912, the daughter of Albert and Lillie Mae (Mase) Sampson near Kingsley, Iowa. She attended the Union School, graduating in 1930. On March 15, 1932, Lois married Arthur James Wolcott in Dakota City, Nebraska. Lois worked for Simmons Grocery, J.C. Penney’s and Judy’s Hallmark in Cherokee, Sunset knoll Retirement Home and Casey’s in Aurelia. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Aurelia, Mother of Twins Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Lois enjoyed playing cards.
Preceding Lois in death were her parents, husband, Arthur on December 15, 1973, daughter Manetha in 1936, brother James Sampson in 1977, and sister Evelynne Hardacre in 1989.
Survivors include three sons: James and his wife Virginia Wolcott of Cherokee; Jack and his wife Edna Wolcott of Floyd, Ia., and Jerry and his wife Pauline Wolcott of Cherokee; one daughter, Judith Lubrant of Omaha, Ne.; 12 grandchildren: Kim Kennedy, Tony Wolcott, Carla DeYoung, Darin Wolcott, Christy Guggisberg, Jack Wolcott II, Art Wolcott, Jason Wolcott, Tamra Smith, Dennis Lubrant, Timothy Lubrant, and Jessica Woodard, and 11 great-grandchildren.
