Ann Neuenfeld, 85, of Marcus died Sunday May 13, 1998, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus. Services will be held Wednesday, May 6 at the Earnest and Roethler Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery at Blencoe, Iowa.

Mrs. Neuenfeld was born June 15, 1912, near Clarkson, Ne. She was the daughter of George and Ann (Walla) Hermes. She attended grade school and graduated from Clarkson High School in Clarkson, Ne. in 1931. She married George Neuenfeld in Schuyler, Ne., on August 7, 1943. They traveled around doing construction work in Nebraska and Kansas until 1961 when they moved to Marcus. Mr. Neuenfeld died on Oct. 22, 1975. She was a housewife and also had worked as a waitress. She has been a resident of Heartland Care Center since February of 1998. She had been an active member of the Marcus Senior Citizen’s group.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Helen Hermes and a nephew, Albert Hermes both of Leigh, Ne. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. (Source: Former Cherokee County Historical Society scrapbook clipping hand dated 5-5-1998)
