Mrs. Robert (Della Beth) Thomson, 82, a former Cleghorn resident, died Thursday, October 15 at the Lutheran home in Omaha, Neb., from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.

Memorial services will be Monday, October 19 at the Cleghorn Christian Church at Cleghorn with Robert Blair officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery north of Meriden. The Moeller Funeral Home of Remsen is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born April 29, 1916, at Orange City, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John de Bey. Her father was a well-known and well-loved doctor in Orange City. Her grandfather, Dr. Albert de Bey, also resided in Orange City. Della Beth spent her childhood and teenage years in Orange City.

Della Beth was a well-known music teacher and singer in northwest Iowa. She taught music in Cleghorn, Larrabee, and Remsen. She was one of the original board members of the Sioux City Symphony. She was very active in community affairs in the Cleghorn area. She served on the Library Board and was church organist at the Cleghorn Christian Church for many years.

Survivors include two sons, John Robert Thomson, of Mesquite, Texas and Richard Lee Thomson of Omaha Neb.; and six grandchildren. (Source: Former Cherokee County Historical Society scrapbook clipping – no date but it had to be 1998)
