Lyle McCorkel, 79, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, Mary 26, 1998 in St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City following a brief illness. Funeral services were held on Friday, May 29 in Oklahoma City.

Mr. McCorkel was born December 26, 1919, in Quimby, Iowa to Merritt and Vernice (Fox) McCorkel. Following the early death of his parents, he made his home with his grandmother, Mrs. George Fox. As a young man he moved to Sioux City, Iowa and later became a cross country truck driver and tour bus driver, retiring to Oklahoma City. He was a decorated veteran of World War II and was married to Irene Brockhaus who preceded him in death.

Survivors include three children: James McCorkel, Topeka, Kansas; Ruth and her husband, Robert Snyder, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and Vernon McCorkel and his wife, Denis, Oklahoma City; six grand-children; and 2 great-grandchildren.
