Dickie Ray Burns, 47, of Cherokee, Iowa and formerly of Washta, Iowa passed away Saturday, June 13, 1998, at his home following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held today, June 16 at the Washta United Methodist Church in Washta. Burial will be in the Correctionville Cemetery under the direction of the Boothby funeral home in Cherokee.

Mr. Burns was born August 16, 1950, at Sioux City, Iowa to Duane and Betty (Levin) Burns. He attended schools in Quimby, Iowa and Washta. He had lived and worked on a farm in the Washta area. On June 19, 1987, he married Bonnie Mae Flisher in Washta. He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; his parents Duane and Betty Burns, Washta; two brothers: Robert Burns and his wife Janice, Washta; and Keith Burns and his wife, Mary, Sioux City, Iowa; three sisters: Linda Johnson, Sioux City; Vickie and her husband, Scott Eatinger, Sioux City; and Suzann and her husband, Joseph Griep, Stockton, California; a sister-in-law, Betty and her husband, Lynn Hodgdon, Cherokee; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
