Emmett M. Lyman, 84, of 319 Charles Street, Cherokee, died Monday, April 24, in Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. He had been a resident of Cherokee County his entire life.
Services will be on Thursday at the Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. The burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee.
Lyman was born Oct 3, 1904, to Mr. and Mrs. William Lyman. On March 17, 1924, he married Bonnie Stone in Sioux City. He served on the Cherokee police force for 16 years, retiring in 1964.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ron (Elizabeth) Johnson of Marshalltown; 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
