Mrs. Leona D. Loucks, 74, of 219 West Beech St., Cherokee, died Thursday, May 14, 1992, in the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital, Cherokee, following an apparent heart attack.
Services will be held Monday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee. A scripture service will be held Sunday at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee.
She was born Feb. 13, 1918, in Cherokee County to John and Stella (Zimmer) Bauer. She attended country school in Cherokee County. On Sept. 12, 1940, she married Robert Loucks in Spirit Lake. They owned and operated Loucks Trucking Service until the death of her husband on Jan. 5, 1982. Leona was a member of the Loucks Bowling Team for many years and had recently received her 50-year bowling award.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister.
She is survived by two sons, Ron Loucks, and his wife, Mary of Quimby, Robert Loucks, and his wife, Judy, of Cherokee; one brother, Frank Bauer of Sioux City; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. (Source: Former Cherokee County Historical Society scrapbook clipping hand dated 5-16-92)
