Lyle C. Maxwell, 93, Cherokee, died in the Hilltop Care Center following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 19, 1999, from the Memorial Presbyterian Church, Cherokee. The burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee.
He was born Feb. 13, 1906, on a farm near Vail, to Robert and Alys (White) Maxwell. He was married to Corinne Knudson on Feb. 15, 1935, at her parent’s home near Linn Grove. He owned and operated Maxwell Accounting Services in Cherokee for 30 years, retiring in 1974. He had been a resident of Cherokee the past 54 years. He was a long-time member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Speculative Lodge #307 A.F. & A.M., Sioux City Consistory and the Abu Bekr Shrine Temple in Sioux City. While in business, he belonged to the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, the Sanford Museum and was a long-time member of the Cherokee Country Club.
He is survived by: his wife Corinne of 64 years; his twin sons, Robert and his wife Carol of Eden Prairie, Minn. And Steven and his wife Jerrilyn of Dubuque; two grandsons, Tim Maxwell and his wife Kelly of Germany and Todd Maxwell of Chicago, Ill.; two great-grandchildren, William and Meaghan.
