Mrs. Justus (Angeline) Miller, 73, died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at Marian Health Center, Sioux City, following a several month illness. Funeral services will be held today, May 10 from the Memorial Presbyterian Church, Cherokee. The burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee.
Angeline Consos was born Aug. 29, 1925, in Lawrence, Mass. She attended Boston University and came to Cherokee in 1944 during World War II. She was employed as a news reporter by the “Cherokee Daily Times,” and later as the editor of the “Courier”, an area weekly publication. In 1955, she also researched and wrote the 100-page special “Centennial Edition” of the city’s history which was published in 1956. She was married to Justus R. Miller on March 15, 1959, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Angie, as she was well known, was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church, the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, the Sanford Museum Association, the Cherokee Symphony Orchestra, the Cherokee Community Theatre, as well as the Lakes Art Center at Okoboji. For many years, she was a summer resident of West Lake Okoboji at her second home on jones Beach, where she will be missed by many close friends and neighbors.
Survivors include: two daughters, Rosemary and her husband, Ronald Koeneke, Sierra Madre, Calif.; and Rachel and her husband, Ralph Mendez, Silver City, N.M.; four grandsons; and one granddaughter.
Preceding her in death were: her parents; an infant son, Richard; and her husband, Justus, on Feb. 28, 1994. (Source: Former Cherokee County Historical Society scrapbook clipping hand dated 5-11-99)
