Genevieve S. Hanner, 87, of Cherokee and formerly of Washta, Iowa died Friday, November 6, 1998, at 12:01 a.m. at her home in Cherokee due to an apparent heart attack.
Memorial services were held Monday, November 9th from the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Mrs. Hanner’s remains were cremated.
She was born October 6, 1911, at Quimby, Iowa, to David R. Stanford and Jessie H. Stanford. She was married to Theodore Hanner. She was an elementary school teacher in Worland, Wyoming for many years. She had lived in Cherokee for the past one year. Prior to this, in Washta for three years, and had been a long-time resident of Worland. She was a member of the All Saints Episcopal Church in Storm Lake, Iowa and was a P.E.O. member.
She is survived by one son, Lany Hanner of Denver, Colorado, two grandchildren Chandra Wurm and Marissa Ingram; two great grandchildren, a son-in-law Larry Ingram; one sister Norma Meyer of Cherokee; also, seven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, a daughter, Lonnie Hanner, a sister Zaidee Brewer and a brother Leroy Stanford. (Source: Former Cherokee County Historical Society scrapbook clipping hand dated 11-10-98)
