Bessie Addy, 87, of Meriden died Friday, September 23 at Marian Health Center in Sioux City following a brief illness.

Services will be held today (Monday, Sept 26) at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee. Burial will be in the Maryhill Visitation Church Cemetery, rural Cherokee. A scripture service was held Sunday with a rosary by the Catholic Daughters of America at Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee.

She was born June 21, 1907 in Rock Township, Cherokee, to Frank and Nettie (Zimmer) Rupp. She attended school at Maryhill. On November 23, 1926, she married Raymond Addy. He preceded her in death December 21, 1971. Bessie lived in Meriden since 1930. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee and the Catholic Daughters of America. She worked as a food supervisor at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute for 30 years. She was a member of the Ladies Union and the Parish Caring Group.

Survivors include two nephews; Joe Rupp, and his wife Suzanne; Garry Simmons and his wife, Brigitte, all of Cherokee; two nieces: Margaret Ann Clifton and her husband Bill of Omaha; and Sonja Dyste of Forrest City. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and six sisters.
