Funeral services for Walter Idlewine, 72, Rochester, were held July 31, 1980 at St. Bernadette's Catholic church in West Branch, with burial in the Rochester cemetery. Pallbearers were Ray Baetke, Donald Utesch, Vernon DeRaad, Jorge Castilliol, Edward Ketelsen, Randy Beelner and Steve Schroeder. Military Honors were conducted by the Tipton American Legion. A memorial fund has been established.

Mr. Idlewine died July 28 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

The son of Wesley and Mary Pickett Idlewine, he was born Feb. 14, 1917 at Westport, Ind. He married Rita Schroeder Jan. 7, 1948 in Kingsley. He had been employed as a heavy machine operator during most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Idlewine is survived by his wife; 4 daughters, Mary Idlewine, Davenport; Mrs. Marlo (Margaret) Baetke and Martha Freeman, both of Rochester; and Louise Idlewine, Tipton; 3 sons, James, Rochester; Rex, Olin and Walter, Jr., Davenport and 7 grandchildren.
