1878 Cedar Co. History Rochester twp pg 723. Barclay, Thomas, farmer, Sec 5, P.O. Tipton. Owns 186 acres of land valued at $40 per acre. Born in Franklin co., Penn in 1835, came to Iowa in 1853. Married Mary Looney in 1868, she was born in Butler co., OH in 1831. Mr. B. has 5 children by a former marriage- Delina, Joseph, Oretta, John, and Thomas; Mrs. B. has 2 by a former marriage- Anna and Frank. Is a member of M.E. Church. Republican.
