I am looking for information on the families of my grandparents and great grandparents from Coon Rapids.
My grandfather was Earl Clayton George. He was born in Coon Rapids 21 January 1891, a son of Henry George and Cyrinthia Chevalier George.
My grandmother was Harriet Myrtle Smith. She was born in Coon Rapids 2 July, 1892, a daughter of Thomas Jefferson Smith and Hattie Neel Smith. Both Thomas and Hattie had been married before. Thomas was married to Sarah Hopson and had 10 children with her. Hattie was married to Charles H. Smith and had 6 children with her. Thomas and Hattie had two children together: Harriet Myrtle amd Ralph E. Harriet went by Myrtle since her mother's name was also Harriet.
Earl George and Myrtle Smith graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1910. They were married in Coon Rapids at the home of her parents 7 March, 1914. They homesteaded in Portage, Montana in 1914. They returned to Coon Rapids where Earl ran George's Cash Grocery. They had four children; Rosemary, who died in Coon Rapids in 1918 and is buried there; Gayle, who was born in Coon Rapids in 1918; Thomas (my father); and Shirley. They later moved to Cresco, Iowa.
I remember that as a child we went to family reunions and met many relatives in Coon Rapids and surrounding areas. Since the death of my father and my aunts, I have lost touch with these relatives as well as find out more about them.
