St.Angela's Institite, the School of Domestic Science, was the first Catholic secondary education school for girls in the area. The Fransican Sisters of Perpetual Adoration whose motherhouse is in LaCrosse, Wis started it 10/4/1909. The Sisters had already been staffing 8 grade schools and also the St Anthony School of Nursing in Carroll, Co.. The initial Curriculum included religion, fine arts, food study, cookery, home nursing, dietetics, home decoration, sewing and dress design. Commercial classes were soon added and by 1913 a regular High School course were intrduced. Girls came from all over the country to attend. Many of them boarded at the school.
