Lawrence A. Klein, 89, a resident of Heritage Nursing Center, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, in the care center following a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Calvin Sinclair Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. Susan McKeegan Guinn. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8p.m. Tuesday at Turner Chapel East.

Surviving are two sons, Ronald Klein and wife Betty of Cedar Rapids and Dale Klein and wife Center Point; a daughter, Sharon Pliester and husband Don of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Donald L. Klein and Arlo Klein, both of Cadar Rapids; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruth in 1995 and a sister, Gladys.

Lawrence was born March 25, 1911 in Waukon, the beloved son of Albert and Mary Duvel Klein. He married Ruth Martens on June 9, 1936 in Castalia. He worked at Wilson Foods for 21 years, until his retirement in 1974. Lawrence was a member of the Meatcutters Union Local P3 and Calvin Sinclair Presbyterian Church.

A memorial fund has been established.
