Louis Manderfield passed away at his home east of Waterville at an early hour this, Monday, morning, after a week's illness from the effects of a fall, coupled with an attack of bronchitis.

Deceased was born in 1824 and at an early age located on the farm where he has lived continuously ever since. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters and was the last of the family to answer the final summons.

Deceased assisted in digging the first grave in St. Pius' cemetery, Cherry Mound, and could narrate many happenings and changes since that time.

Mr. Manderfield never married but was well cared for by his niece and nephew, Mrs. Tillie Peck and brother Joe Manderfield, who have lived with him for the past few years.

Other nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral was held at St. Pius' church this Wednesday, morning at 9 a.m., Requiem Mass being celebrated by the pastor, Rev. D.J. Neenan.
