Owen Marsten Hintz was born July 26, 1920 to Albert Carl and Hazel M. Hickings Hintz. He died July 4, 1944 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 3, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii and in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, IA.
Ensign Hintz served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and was MIA/KIA when shot down by anti-aircraft fire while dive bombing over the Chi Chi Jima Harbor. He was awarded the Air Medal.

Chief Petty Officer Hjelmeng served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Intrepid (CV-11). He was buried at sea and awarded the Purple Heart.
