Charles Nekvinda, 79, Retired Farmer Dies
Charles Nekvinda, 79, died early this morning following a short illness at his
home, 1006 south twenty-first street.
A resident of the community for 54 years, he was a retired farmer.
Mr. Nekvinda was born Jan. 28, 1868 in Czechoslovakia and came to this country
in July, 1882. He made his home with his uncle Joseph Nekvinda in Boone. Two
years later he moved to Elkhorn Township, south of Fort Dodge. On Oct. 4,
1892, he was united in marriage with Mary Machovec. Mr. and Mrs. Nekvinda
farmed 51 years, 11 years near Olivia, Minn. and the rest in Webster county.
In 1934, he retired and he and Mrs. Nekvinda moved to Fort Dodge.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. L. J. Julius of Olivia, Minn.,
and two sons, Frank and Anton Nekvinda of Fort Dodge. Eleven grandchildren
and 13 great-grandchildren also survive as well as two sisters , who live in
Czechoslovakia. He was a member of the Z.C.B.J. lodge.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Wilder and
Bruce funeral home. Rev. T.V.L. Harvey, pastor of the First Baptist church
will conduct the services.
