M. BUNDA DIES AT AGE 95; RITES FRIDAY
Matt (Mike) Bunda, 95 of Fort Dodge died at Mercy Hospital Tuesday morning
following a short illness. Mr. Bunda suffered a stroke on May 29 and was
taken by ambulance to the hospital where he had been a medical patient
since then. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in the
Chapel of Laufersweiler Funeral Home with burial in Elkhorn Township Cemetery.
The Rt. Rev. Msgr. E. L. McEvoy, pastor of Corpus Christi Church will officiate.
Mr. Bunda was born in Bohemia May 16, 1864 the son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
John Bunda. He received his schooling in Bohemia. As a young man he came to
the USA, settled in Chicago, ILL., where he remained for awhile and then came
to Webster County. In June 1891, he was married to Miss Anna Koussek in Fort
Dodge and they established their home on a farm near Otho. Several years
later they moved to a farm in Elkhorn Township. Mr. Bunda's first wife died
in 1927. In 1934 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Kate Delaney, who died in 1944.
Survivors include three daughters and one son: Mrs. Joe Katnik of Moorland,
Mrs. Dan Kusierer, and Mrs. Carl Goodspeed, both of Fort Dodge, and James
both of Fort Dodge, as well as 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a son Joe in 1953, and two infant daughters and
one son.
In recent years Mr. Bunda had made his home with his son and daughter-in-law
at 506 1/2 Central Ave.
