Thomas Jefferson Bass son of Mr. & Mrs. Edward Bass was born on
October 31, 1881 at Mineral Ridge, Iowa.
The first thirty-five years of his life were spent in that vicinity.
He was united in marriage to Vernie Annie Culver on March 14, 1902 at Fort
Dodge. To this union 9 children were born. One son Floyd, died in infancy.
For many years the family lived near Dayton. For the last 25 years they have
lived on their present farm in the Belleville Community.
Mr. Bass has been blessed with good health the major portion of his life but
about 2 years ago his health begun to fail. He was taken to a hospital in
Fort Dodge a month ago where an operation was performed from which he did not
recover. He passed to the life beyond on Wednesday morning October 2, 1957.
He leaves to mourn his devoted wife of over 55 years; Seven daughters, Mrs.
Jess Osborn of Lehigh; Mrs. Howard Long of Dayton; Mrs George Long of
Duncombe; Mrs. Kenneth Stanberg of Fort Dodge; Mrs. Oscar George of Knerim;
Mrs. Charles Stanberg of Fort Dodge; Mrs John Iles of Dayton; One Son, Arthur
Bass of Fort Dodge; 24 grandchildren; 26 great granchildren;
Many other relatives and friends.
H.W. Faris was the officiating minister. The burial was at McGuire Bend
Cemetery.
