SCHOOLS | FLOODS | LOCAL NEWS | LEGION | CEMETERY | MUSEUM | CIVIL WAR | CHURCHES Highland Cemetery Mahaska Co., NE part of the SW 1/4 of Section 31, Township 74, Range 15 The original paving from 1908 is on the east side (Memory Lane). The north edge of the cemetery, 1 Acre, was donated in 1846 by Nicholas Scribner.He also built the first Inn in Eddyville,a four-room 2 story house of logs, west side of the square. The next section south of the original 1 acre, was added in 1887, and a Revolutionary War soldier, died at age 96, Richard Scarrem (1759-1856) lays in rest an addition south to the 1 acre in 1887, is considered the potters field. There was a 2nd addition in 1900, conveyed for $1, to the Eddyville Cemetery Assoc., of Wapello County.
