* Civil War Veteran
Rev. Rueben Buttolph Notes, from military researcher, Steve Hanken:
"Rev. Rueben Buttolph, buried in Oakwood Cemetery has an interesting back story! Yes, he was a veteran of the War of 1812, but for the British side! He was pressed into service in Canada where he lived and was captured by the Americans and exchanged. Later he immigrated to Illinois and later moved to Iowa, settling in Wayne Township, Jones County, Iowa. He very likely is the only British soldier from the war of 1812 buried in Iowa! Steve Hanken"
