Additional Information used to compile the cemetery burial list - Burial of the 5 young Schmidt children on the farm is very likely. Adam Schmidt purchased land from the Federal Government in Sections 10 & 15 of Cox Creek twp., all patented in 1855. He continued to live on his land until his death in 1887. His children who died of diptheria were probably buried on the farm. - Also owning land in Section 10, adjacent to Adam's land, was Frederica Schmidt. Her patent is dated 06/15/1855. In May 1855, Frederike / Frederica Schmidt was married to George Zigler / Zeigler. The relationship of Adam Schmidt and Frederike Schmidt is unknown. - 1856 Iowa State census, Cox Creek twp., Clayton
