Eugene H. WHITESIDE, painter and decorator, Atlantic, Iowa, was born in Springfield, Illinois, February 14, 1858, and lived there until he was eight years old, when his parents moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. He remained in Lincoln fifteen years and then went to Denver. From Denver he went to Chicago, from Chicago to Beatrice, Neb., and from Beatrice came to Atlantic in March of 1900 and opened his large stock of wall paper, paints and oils, mouldings, pictures, etc. in the building now occupied by him. At the end of two years he bought the building, which is of itself the best evidence of the popular chord he struck in a business way. He is a first-class workman himself and he employs the best of workmen, and many homes and public buildings in this city and throughout the county attest his personal and supervisional skill.
