Edward F. JONES, Dealer in Meats, Atlantic, Iowa, was born July 21, 1856, in Pocomoke City, Maryland, and lived there until he was twenty years of age, when he came direct to Cass County. He tilled the virgin soil for ten years and then came to Atlantic and bought a half interest in the BALLARD & RYDER meat market. He sold in a short time to BALLARD and then went into partnership three years and then by himself, afterward buying the Harve PARKS market. He has been at his present location, which he owns, for five years. He is an Odd Fellow, a Modern Woodman and belongs to the M. B. of A. His business is one of the best in his line to be found anywhere and he keeps his trade by dealing fairly at all times with the public. Though quiet and unobtrusive, he is one of Atlantic's best citizens and his hand and purse are ever ready to assist in the upbuilding of the city.

Rudolph WESTPHALEN, Atlantic, Iowa, was born in Germany, August 29, 1864, and came to America when he was twenty years of age, locating in this city. Two years thereafter he engaged in the meat business and has been in it continuously ever since. He has had his ups and downs incident to business life and was burned out once, but he has ever been the genial "Rude," and has pleased the public and built up a splendid trade. If he ever said no to a man, woman, or child, "out of meat," no one ever heard of it. He owns the complete establishment in which he does buSiness and it is one of the best in the state. He finds time occasionally to indulge the social side of his being and is a member of the German Aid Society, the A. O. U. W. and the Maccabees.
