The Green Bay Lumber Company came into existence in 1874, coincident with the building of the Maple Valley road out from Carroll. The business of the company was first confined to the towns along that line, but gradually its scope broadened until it covered about all of western and northwestern Iowa. James F. BERRYHILL was the first president of the company, but he went out about ten years ago and the present officers of the company are: A.C . FINKBINE, President; K. E. JEWETT, Secretary; W. E. GUILD, Treasurer. H. M. FINKBINE, of this city, is traveling auditor and looks after the yards along the line of the Rock Island. The company owns a yard at Marne. B. R. WASSON is the local manager and Clarence BROWN bookkeeper. The company does a nice business in this county, where they have dealt in all the varied articles in their line of business since 1883.
