DRUGGISTS
1. Joseph S. GOSS, one of Atlantic's most popular druggists, is a native of the Empire state, having been born in New York City on the 27th day of August, 1857. When but a year old his parents moved to Chicago, where he remained until 1871. He then went to Seneca, Illinois, and clerked for four years, going from there to Perry, Iowa, where he engaged in the drug business. Afterward he was in business in Harlan, Iowa , and then came to Atlantic and clerked for J.B. JONES in the latter's drug store. Afterward he and Dr. J.M. EMMERT bought out the Jones store and four years thereafter he bought out his partner and has been in business ever since. He is a member of the K.P., M.W.A. and Elks, and is interested in public affairs. Several years ago he was a candidate for the appointment as a member of the Pharmacy Commission and received the strongest endorsements ever presented by any candidate for any office.

2. William T. PALMER, druggist, Atlantic, Iowa, was born March 25, 1846, in Urbana, Ohio, and lived there until the spring of 1860, when he came to Warren county, locating 12 miles south of Des Moines. He had not been born with a silver spoon in his mouth and the edges against which he rubbed were rough and hard. He herded sheep, broke prairie with oxen, and did other work of that kind until the spring of 1874, when he came to Atlantic and engaged in the grocery business with Theodore CUSHING. He remained in the grocery business five years and then went on the road selling crockery, glassware, etc., and making a success of it. He quit the road and went into the drug business and has been in it for eighteen years.

3. William N. FRANKS, druggist, Atlantic, Iowa was born in Fredericksburg, Ohio, October 7, 1874, and came to Iowa with his parents in 1879, locating at Bentonsport, in Van Buren county. He attended and graduated from the High School at Bentonsport and after-wards graduated in pharmacy from the Highland Park College at Des Moines. He clerked in Des Moines drug stores four years, then went to Perry, Iowa, and clerked for two years, afterward engaging in the drug business for himself. He came to Atlantic in February of 1903, and purchased the J.B. JONES drug business, which he still owns and personally conducts. He is married and has one child, a boy. He belongs to the Knights of Pythias, Elks and Odd Fellow lodges. He is an expert pharmacist. His business is growing rapidly and his is personally popular.

Fred H. FRANKLIN, Druggist, Atlantic, Iowa, was born near Lewis, Iowa, October 10, 1873, and lived there until he was 22 years old, when he engaged in the drug business in the northern part of the state and was afterwards in the drug business at Brayton, Iowa, for three years. On the 10th of October of this year he purchased the drug business in Atlantic of Fred HARRIS and took immediate charge thereof, thus gaining possession of one of the most complete drug stocks in the city. He is energetic and enterprising and has won success in business by unusual business ability and square dealing.

4. Chas. W. MAJOR, Anita, Iowa, was born in New Hampshire, September 22, 1873, and came to Anita with his parents when five years of age. He attended the public schools of Anita and studied pharmacy with Dr. E.E. MAJOR, and was given his certificate upon his first examination by the pharmacy board in 1893. He purchased one-half of the E. E. MAJOR drug stock in 1895 and the other half in 1899 and is now sole owner of a satisfactory and growing business. He is a Mason and a Knight of Pythias and at the recent meeting at Waterloo was elected Grand Trustee of the K.P. Grand Lodge.
