1. Charles F. WOLFINGER, Atlantic, Iowa, was born June 14, 1869, in Winterset, Iowa, and when quite young went to Dexter with his parents. He lived in Dexter until 1889, when he came to Atlantic, and he has lived here ever since. He opened the Buffet in the Occidental annex in August, 1901, and in February, 1903, removed to his present location on Chestnut Street. He belongs to the Council Bluffs lodge of Eagles. His business has prospered from the beginning and his geniality has won him a large and increasing trade. His assistants are Fred PORTERFIELD and John SANDBURG, who also have many friends in Atlantic and vicinity.

2. William T. McCONVILL, Manager of the Buffet at the corner of Fourth and Poplar Streets, Atlantic, Iowa, was born in Washington Township, Cass County, Iowa, April 5, 1876. He helped his father on the farm until 1892 when he came to Atlantic and ran an express wagon for about four years. Afterward he went to Omaha and engaged in the laundry business, then returned to Atlantic and has been engaged in his present business since 1901. He is a member of the Eagles and is of a genial disposition and progressive in all things. He has built up a paying business in his present location.

3. William H. HAMM, Atlantic, Iowa, manager for W. S. HAMM, a brother, is a native of Wisconsin, born in Oshkosh, September 23, 1856. He lived there and attended the public schools until he was twenty years of age, when he entered the railroad employ in Northern Michigan, and continued in it for some time. He then operated a buffet in Escanaba, and from there went to Boone, Iowa, in 1894, and engaged in the hardware business. From Boone he went to Webster County, Iowa, and operated a buffet for three years, then returned to Boone and entered the employ of B. ARIE, a wholesale liquor merchant. From Boone he came to Atlantic in 1901 and became manager of the business established here by his brother and has continued it since. Mr. HAMM is a member of the A. O. U. W., the K. of P., and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He served as Chancellor Commander of the Boone lodge K. of P. while there. He is a gentleman in every sense of the term an by his exemplary living has drawn about him a host of friends. His gentlemanly assisstants in his business are Lawrence TROY and Frank HANSEN.

4. Emil J. WOLFINGER, manager of the Buffet at 311 Walnut Street, Atlantic, Iowa, was born in Dallas County, Iowa, December 28, 1874, and lived there until he was 16 years old, attending the public schools there. Afterwards he secured a first-class certificate to teach and taught school in Jasper, Dallas and Guthrie Counties. Then he learned book-keeping and stenography and worked two years at the business. He came to Atlantic six years ago and engaged in the restaurant business, more recently he was associated with his brother in business and a few months ago he accepted the management of the Anheuser-Busch Buffet at the location named above. He is a member of the Maccabees and is a gentleman who makes friends in and out of business.

5. Carl W. PHARES, manager of the Bon Ton Buffet, Atlantic, Iowa, was born in Leclaire, Iowa, October 1, 1857, and came to Atlantic in the early 70's, engaging in the bakery business, in which he continued for sixteen years, enjoying the patronage of the public to a very satisfactory degree. Two years ago he opened the Bon Ton Buffet and has operated it ever since, building up a good trade and doing his share of the business. His place is cleanly and he handles a good line of goods, which, together with his socialability, has made his place many permanent friends.

Peter THOMSEN, Atlantic, Iowa, was born in Aarhus, Denmark, July 3, 1865, and came to America in 1882 and settled in Omaha, Nebraska, where he remained for nineteen years, during which time he was engaged in the liquor business. He came to Atlantic in the summer of 1901 and later opened the Buffet which he is now conducting. He belongs to the Odd Fellows and is a member of the Danish Brotherhood. "Pete", as he is familiarly called, is a genial gentleman, conducts his business strictly within the provinces of the law and enjoys a prosperous trade. His able assistant is Albert HUNTZSINGER.
