In November 1858 the county bought of Peck & Keyes the ferry boat used by them on the 'Botna river, where the Lewis bridge now stands near the Lewis flouring mill for $210.00.

The ferry did not pay after the county bought it. At the April term of the County court, S.H. TEFT, the ferryman, filed the following report:

Amount received by S.H. TEFT, ferryman, for tolls, from Nov. 4th 1858 to April 1859 . . . . $98.65
Amount due said TEFT for attending ferry and other expenses about said ferry from Nov. 4th, 1858 to April 4th 1859 . . . $186.69
In 1861, the county sold the ferry boat to Peter HEDGES FOR $5.00.
