Alvin Lyons, beloved father, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, August 25, 2024, in Sioux City. To honor Alvin’s wishes, no services will be held. Christy-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Alvin Clark, son of Clark and Leota (Huerth) Lyons, was born June 25, 1931, at home in Moville, Iowa. He grew up in Moville. Alvin then served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and later retired from the Iowa Air National Guard after serving in the 185th for several years.
Alvin was first married to Mary Elaine Jolin. Five children were born to this union. After 30 years, this marriage ended in divorce. Alvin then married Diana Steele and was married for 28 years.
Alvin had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved sharing his stories with all who would listen. He had a deep appreciation for military movies, westerns and country music.
Alvin is survived by his wife Diana Lyons of Sioux City; a brother Robert (Mary) Lyons or Sioux City; five daughters: Marlene Nelson of Franklin, KY; Audrey Lyons of Sioux City; Katherine Mavis of Franklin, KY; Suzanne Wold of Bowling Green, KY; Tammy Summers of Sioux City; two stepsons Randy Steele of Des Moines and Terry Steele of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; Christine, Melissa, April, Angelia, Robert, Steven, Shawn, Jesse, Corey, Nicole and Crystal; 34 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Ethel, Nancy, Marjorie, Doris and Mary and his grandson, Austin.
