A State Wedding
E. E. Loe, who was indicted by the grand jury for the seduction of Sena Hagwold. After spending three weeks in the county jail, made up his mind to be a husband, and yesterday notified County Attorney Hallam of his willingness to marry.
The ceremony was performed in the sheriff’s office at 8 o’clock last night. Justice Whitney performed the ceremony, and it did not take long. Mr. Loe and Miss Hagwold promises to love and cherish each other through life, and then the Justice, “by virtue of these mutual promises and the authority in me vested as a magistrate of the State of Iowa”, pronounced them husband and wife.
Loe is a handsome fellow, 29 years of age. Miss Hagwold, the bride was not handsome, and the merciless license stated stated her age as 32. She wore a plush cloak, but the only bridal veil was the tears which blinded her eyes and ran down her cheeks. Her hand trembles so she found it impossible to sign her name on the record. Mr. and Mrs. Loe do not start in married life under smiling social skies, but they left the sheriff’s office together, and County Attorney Hallam believes the young man will support her. His bride is the mother of a baby six weeks old.
