Wardle - Swanson

The Methodist church at Vincent, Iowa, was the setting, Tuesday (August 19, 1930) at high noon, for the wedding of Miss Joyce Wardle of Vincent and Mr. Elmer Swanson of Harcourt, Iowa. Preceeding the ceremony, Miss Roberta Keith of Vincent played "Londonderry Air" and Mr. Lloyd Swanson of Hayes, Kan., brother of the groom, accompanied by Mrs. Swanson, sang "Because I'm With You". As the bridal party took their places, Miss Keith played the wedding marches from "Lohengrin" and "Mendelssohn".
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, the Rev. L.E. Wardle, wore a dress of white georgette and carried pink roses. Her veil was carried by little Lauris Shipman of Eagle Grove, who wore white organdie. Miss Margaret Looft of Wesley, Iowa, the brides maid, wore yellow chiffon and carried yellow tea roses. Doris Lee Moser of Eagle Grove, the little flower girl wore orchid crepe. The ushers, Jean and Jane Derscheid and Bernadine and Maryella Williams of Eagle Grove, wore pink and yellow organdie. All of the little girls were pupils of Mrs. Swanson.
Lee Lowenberg of Belmond served as best man. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Wardle, assisted by Rev. E.S. Bloomquist of Harcourt. Following the ceremony, a wedding breakfast was served in the church parlor by the Mesdames Paul Hoffman, Robert Keith, Carl Moser and Milo Severson. A color scheme of pink and white was carried out in the dining room, while the church was tastefully decorated with garden flowers.
About fifty out of town guest were present.
Mrs. Swanson, only daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. L.E. Wardle a graduate of Cornell College, class of 1928. Following the graduation she spent a year in Chicago and taught a year.
Mr. Swanson is also a gruaduate of Cornell with the 1928 class and is principal of the high school in Wadena, Iowa, where the new couple will be at home follwing a wedding trip to the Dells in Wisconsin.
