Obituary
Barbora Ellen Wade was born in Scott County, Ohio, April 8, 1838, and died at the home of her son in Seymour, February 5th, 1909, aged 70 years, 9 months and 27 days. January 17, 1856, she was married to Matthew Johnson at Augusta, Iowa. Seven children were born to them, four of whom are living, Grant of Blakesburg, Iowa, Lewis, Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Winger of Seymour. Her husband died January 12, 1896. She was converted early in life and united with the United Brethren church. Her life was one of toil and hardships but she never complained and was always ready to assist where her friendly ministrations were needed. She was a good friend and a loving devoted mother. A brief funeral service was held Sunday morning at the home of her son, Lewis, conducted by Rev. L. M. Beebe and the remains were taken to Promise City for burial. “So he giveth His beloved sleep.”
