I am requesting information on my second great-grandmother, Angeline Sophronia (Ketchum) Anderson. I have been researching her ancestry for quite some time but without results. She passed away one year after the birth of her tenth child. Her husband, Harvey Anderson, subsequently remarried Joanna Albin two years later, but he too passed away nine years after that. Many of the children were then placed with area families. I am hoping someone can help me break the thick brick wall that has prevented me from honoring her life by discovering her ancestry.
The true name of Angeline Sophronia Ketchum is unclear having seen her name also reflected as Sophrona, Safronia, Sopheona, Safrona, Cetchum, Kitchen, and Kechem. She is believed to have been born about 12 Sep 1837 and died 20 Oct 1873. She is buried at New Haven Cemetery, Washington County, Iowa, and I have visited this grave sight. She married Harvey Anderson 17 Mar 1859 in Keokuk County, Iowa. The 1860 Federal Census reflects her living next to her husband's father and possible uncle in Clear Creek Township, Keokuk County, Iowa. However, the 1870 Federal Census reflects her having moved to Dutch Creek Township, Washington County, Iowa. The only source document I have found dated prior to her marriage is a possible 1856 Iowa State Census showing her living in Clear Creek Township with William and Susanna Emily and presumably her siblings Jefferson and Sarah Kechem.
