Gladys Belle Maxwell

Mrs. Gladys Belle Maxell, 97, of Rt. 4, Mt. Pleasant, died Thurs., Dec. 22, at 9:30 a.m., at her home.

She was born Dec. 2, 1891, north of Salem, the daughter of Zakery and Mary McDowell Doan. March 15, 1911, she married Glen Maxwell at the home of her parents. He died April 19, 1949.

She was a member of the Cedar Creek Church, attended the Fairview Schools and also the Whittier College of Salem.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Eva) Heise and Mrs. Richard (Jo Ann) Corell; and a son, Duane Maxwell; all of Rt. 4, Mt. Pleasant; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one sister, Victorine Heise of Mt. Pleasant.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ross; two daughters, Lorene Van Syoc and Beatrice Jones; two brothers, Lee Doan and Lloyd Doan; a great grandson; and two sisters, Blanche Simkin and Mildred Trieshman.

Funeral services will be held Sat., Dec. 24, at 1:30 p.m., from the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Poe and the Rev. Deb Kiesey officiating. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
