Rites Monday for McClaran

Services for Robert P. McClaran, 67, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Free Methodist Church in Birmingham. The Rev. Morton Stephens, Jr., will officiate and burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Behner Funeral Home. A memorial has been established.

McClaran died at 8 a.m. Friday at the Jefferson County Hospital where he has been a patient for three days.

He had worked in the security and maintenance departments at the Dexter Company for 28 years prior to his retirement.

Robert P. McClaran was born Nov. 4, 1915, at Sigourney. He was the son of Elmer E. and May McDowell McClaran. He was married to Jennessee Jameson Dec. 9, 1939, in Jefferson County. She survives. The family home is Ranch Trailer.

In addition to his widow McClaran is survived by three daughters: Carolyn M. Balmer, Keosauqua; Dolores Watson, Fairfield; Joyce Meade, Birmingham; two sons, Robert McClaran, Birmingham; and Jerald McClaran, Fairfield.

Other survivors are 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and two sisters, Mildred Edlrige, California; and Catherine Rodenmayer, Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother and one great-grandchild.
