Max McNamar was born on January 28, 1927. He was the son of Wesley (W.L.) McNamar and Grace McNamar, long time residents of Keosauqua. Max grew up in Keosauqua and graduated from high school there in 1944. From there he went into the service during WW II where he had specialized engineering training with the U.S. Army. After leaving the service, he continued his college education graduating from Oregon State College with a degree in Business. He married Jean Elder in the Pine Grove Methodist Church at Hood River, Oregon on July 27, 1947.
He was employed by Georgia Pacific Corporation as an accountant for 25 years and retired in 1978.
Max attended the Methodist Church, was a member of the Newport and Coos Bay Kiwanis Clubs, and was a barbershopper with SPEBSQSA for over 20 years. He lived in North Bend, Oregon from 1964 until his death on March 21, 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, a brother, Bill, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lorraine "Mickey" and Noel McNamar. His final resting place is in the Pine Grove Cemetery near Hood River, Oregon.
