Wilder C. Rollins, 82, of Bingham, Maine, died Friday, August 3, 1990 at his home. He was born September 12, 1907 in Bingham to Chester and Grace Robinson Rollins. He graduated from Bingham High School and was a lifelong resident of Bingham. He married Lephie Laweryson in Bingham in 1932. She died in 1974.
He was employed for a number of years in the lumber industry and for 45 years operated Rollins' Distributors, a tire and oil firm, retiring in 1974. He was Town Forest Fire Warden for 18 years, and served as Assistant and Chief of Bingham Fire Department. He was a founder of Bingham Chamber of Commerce, serving as President, also was the chairman of Bingham Sesquecentennial in 1962. He helped secure an area on Wyman Lake, which was developed a public recreation site and activated the Wyman Lake swimming program. He was chairman of the commission which designed and developed construction of the Town's present sewer and collection plant. he designed and supervised the construction of Bingham's War Memorial. He was active in the Bingham recreation park. He was a member of the Bingham First Congregational Church, serving as treasurer and trustee of the Old Free Meeting House and was active in the restoration of that property.
Surviving are two daughters, Lo Ann Thomas of Sudbury, Mass. and June Pedrick and her husband Robert of Keosauqua; four grandchildren, Lisa Thomas, Lori Later, Kathleen Humble of Birmingham, and James Pedrick of Muscatine, Iowa; three great-grandchildren and a sister, Elizabeth Cummings of Bingham, Maine.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 6, 1990 at his Church. Rev. Douglas Down officiating. Burial was in Bingham Village Cemetery. Memorials to his Church of Old Free Meeting House.
